Getting around the airport

One main terminal with three concourses

Albany International Airport is located seven miles northwest of Albany in upstate New York. The airport has one main terminal and three concourses, A, B, and C.

  • The Main Terminal has three levels:
    • Level 1 including check-in (right), baggage claim (left), car rental, and taxis. Escalators lead up to
    • Level 2 with a public sitting area, cash point, and the security checkpoints that lead to the airside Central Atrium with concessions, retail, and gate access.
    • Level 3 has offices, an art gallery, conference room, and a public observation deck.
  • Concourse A is to the left after security check and two levels, with gates A1, A1a, and A2 on the lower level and Gates A3-A6 on the upper level.
    Concourse B is straight ahead after security and has gates on two levels. The lower level to Gates B2 and B4 are reached by escalators. The upper level houses Gates B5-B11. 
    Concourse C is after security check to the right with Gates C1-3.

Getting into New York

Taxi or buses

Taxi

Travellers arriving at Albany International Airport are served by Capitaland Taxi. The company offers late-model, smoke-free, clean vans with uniformed drivers. All cabs are equipped with credit cards readers. 

Location: Main Terminal, before security, arrivals, across from the commercial lane 
Cost: approximately 32 USD to Times Union Square 

Buses

Albany Airport offers local, regional and long-distance bus services including shuttle service to JFK, LaGuardia and Newark Airports. 

Capital District Transportation provides service to and from the Albany International Airport.

Adirondack Trailways offers direct or connecting service to the following cities: Albany, Boston, Buffalo, Canton, Clifton Park, Glens Falls, Kenne Valley, Montreal. Tickets may be purchased at the information desk. 

Vermont Translines serves Albany Airport with daily arrivals and departures from popular Vermont destinations including such cities as Manchester, Bennington and Burlington. 

Premiere Transportation offers daily bus services between Albany International Airport and three New York City area Airports: JFK, LaGuardia and Newark.

Meeting rooms

The Business Center, located on the terminal's second level concourse-c offers three conference rooms that are available to business, individuals or community groups. The fees for using the business center conference rooms are as follows: 

  • Large Room: USD 50 per hour
  • Medium Room: USD 35 per hour
  • Small Room: USD 25 per hour

Military room

For traveling military personnel

The Capitan John J. McKenna, IV Military Courtesy Room provides a place for traveling military personnel to rest and recreate as they await their flights and to assist them with any difficulties in their travels. The initial concept for a Military Courtesy Room was presented to the Airport Authority by Mr. John McKenna whose son, Captain John McKenna, IV, was killed in 2006 while serving in action with the US Marine Corps.
