Getting around the airport

4 terminals

Logan International Airport is located in East Boston, approximately three miles outside of downtown Boston. The airport has four terminals: A, B, C, and E:

  • Terminal A has a main terminal building (Gates A1-A11) and a satellite building (Gates A13-A22) connected through an underground walkway. 

  • Terminal B is divided into North (Gates B20-B38) and South (Gates B1-B19) buildings. The North side has a security check specifically for United Airways flights.

  • Terminal C houses Gates C8-C42. This terminal serves airlines such as Aer Lingus and TAP Air Portugal and is home to the airport's chapel, Our Lady of the Airways. 

  • Terminal E houses Gates E1-E12 and is dedicated to International Arrivals. 

In all terminals, Level 1 is for ground transportation, baggage claim and Arrivals and Level 2 is for ticketing and Departures.

Getting into Boston

Logan Express

The Logan Express is a nonstop bus service connecting travellers to Back Bay, Braintree, Framingham, Peabody and Woburn. Travel time is approximately 30-45 minutes and tickets cost USD 12 one-way or USD 22 return.

Location: All Terminals, before security, lower level, Ground Transportation Centre
Cost: USD 7.50 per passenger to Back Bay, USD 12 to Braintree, Framingham, Peabody and Woburn
Hours of operation: schedules vary, but typically run between 03:00-midnight daily. 

Beware: You can only pay by credit/debit card

Bus

The bus rapid transit Silver Line Route SL1 is a direct connection to and from the Red Line at South Station. This is the best option for transportation to Cambridge, Downtown Boston, Harvard University, Massachusetts General Hospital, and MIT. This service is free from Logan airport to South Station. Travel time is 20-30 minutes to South Station.

Subway

The Blue Line Subway is the best connection to the Orange Line at State Street Station. It connects to Back Bay, Boston University, Downtown Boston, and Fenway Park. Purchase your CharlieTicket (public transport ticket) at the machines inside the Airport Station lobby. Travel time to downtown Boston is about 30-40 minutes.

Location: Airport Station, before security, take the free Massport shuttle buses (Routes 22, 33, or 55 to MBTA Blue Line) outside your Terminal
Cost: USD 2.75 one-way
Hours of operation: 06:00-00:30 daily

Taxi

Taxis are available outside every terminal. The journey to downtown Boston takes about 15-25 minutes.

Free Airport Shuttle Buses

Lower baggage claim level

Free airport shuttle buses stop on the lower baggage claim level. The buses generally run every 5-6 minutes. They have luggage racks and are wheelchair lift-equipped. Look for the blue and white buses outside the terminal.

Bus 11 serves all terminals with no subway station stop

Bus 22 connects Terminal A and B with Airport Station and Rental Car Center
Hours: Midday peak hours

Bus 33 serves Terminal C and E, heading to Airport Station and Rental Car Center

Travelling between terminals

By shuttle buses and moving walkways

All terminals are connected by landside shuttle buses and the SL1 branch of the Silver Line (Bus Rapid Transit).
Terminals A, B, and E are connected by landside moving walkways. The walking time to Terminal A is 5-7 minutes (via Level 3 bridge); walking time to Terminal B is 7-10 minutes (via Terminal C walkway on Level 2); walking time to Terminal C is 2-5 minutes (keep left and follow the signs).
