Getting around the airport

One "L shaped" terminal for domestic and international flights

Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport is an integrated airport, with a two-tiered driveway, one for arrivals and other for departures. There is a huge car parking space with lush green landscaped gardens outside. Alphabets from the Bengali vernacular adorn the ceiling of the façade outside as well as the inside.

The new airport terminal is an "L shaped" terminal that integrates both international and domestic departures. 

Terminal 1: Handles domestic flights with three aerobridges and 42 check-in desks.

Terminal 2: Handles international traffic with one aerobridge and 27 check-in desks.

Getting into Kolkata

Taxi, bus or train

Taxi

The best way to avoid heavy traffic and get into Kolkata fast is to take a taxi.

Location: Arrivals
Cost: INR 21 per kilometre if you are travelling during the day and if you are travelling during night time, i.e. 22:00-05:00, an additional 20% will be levied. One may also need to pay Service tax and Swachch Bharat Cess in addition to the charges mentioned above. 

Bus

West Bengal Surface Transport Corporation (WBSTC) runs AC buses between Kolkata Airport and many locations in Kolkata such as Howrah, Esplanade, Garia, etc. at regular intervals and the service is rendered at cost-effective rates.

Cost: INR 20-100 depending on the distance and ticket class

08:00-21:30, daily

Train

If you don’t wish to loosen the wallet or if you are bit adventurous, you might want to try the train service.

Operating hours: First train from Biman Bandar to Dum Dum Junction departs at 06:35, last train from Biman Bandar to Dum Dum Cantonment is at 17:42.

Airside

Travel Club, International terminal
This lounge is located at Airside – Mezzanine level, on the right side right after security checks.  This lounge offers galore of facilities for the travelers like Food and beverage, Wi-fi access, flight info, magazines and newspapers, TV and disabled access. Travelers may stay here for maximum of three hours. Kids below four years are admitted free of cost to this lounge. Adults and children (above four years) need to pay INR 1400 or EUR 18.50 to gain access to this lounge. 

Location: Airside – Mezzanine level, after security check
Opening hours: 24 hours

Travel Club, Domestic terminal
This lounge is located at Airside – Mezzanine level. Once you have completed the security checks, turn left to reach this lounge. This lounge offers desirable facilities like  Food and beverage, Wi-fi access, flight info, magazines and newspapers, TV and disabled access. Travelers may stay here for maximum of three hours. Kids below four years are admitted free of cost to this lounge. Adults and children (above four years) need to pay INR 1400 or EUR 18.50 to gain access to this lounge.

Location: Airside – Mezzanine level, turn left
Opening hours: 04:00-21:00 daily.

Clipper Lounge, Domestic Terminal
This lounge is located at Airside, near Departure Gate 25. This is a fully-fledged lounge with facilities like beverages, conference facilities, flight info, magazines and newspapers, TV and disabled access.

Luggage storage

Cloak Room Facility

Travelers can store the baggage safely  in the airport cloak room facility once the luggage passes security checks. Luggage can be stored in this facility for a maximum of 30 days. Charges for storing the baggage is INR 20 per baggage for 24 hours duration, thereafter the rate increases to INR 40 per baggage.
