Stockholm-Arlanda Airport - ARN

Stockholm, Sweden (SE)

Getting into town

20 minutes by train

The train is the most convenient way to take the 37km journey into the city.

Train

The Arlanda Express high-speed train takes you directly to Stockholm's Central Station. Journey time is just under 20 minutes, and the train departs six times every hour during peak times and every 15 minutes late at other times. At 22.35 from Stockholm C and at 23.05 from Arlanda Airport the trains run every 30 minutes. You can also use it to travel for free between Terminals 2, 3 and 5 – the trip takes only one minute.

Watch out! Make sure you go to the right station. To get into Stockholm, use the stations Arlanda South and North. You'll only find long-distance trains in Arlanda Central.

Cost: SEK 295 one-way, SEK 570 return
Buying tickets: Information desks or the Arlanda Express self-service machines next to the escalators/lifts
Location: Arlanda South (Terminals 2, 3 and 4), Arlanda North (Terminal 5) and Arlanda Central (SkyCity)

Taxi

Be aware that taxi prices in Sweden aren't regulated. However, taxis have fixed prices from the airport into the city. Ask the taxi driver first - you don't have to take the first car in the queue.

Or, look for the comparative price stated in large black digits on a yellow background in the window. This is calculated for a journey of 10 kilometres taking 15 minutes.

The biggest companies are Flygtaxi, Taxi 020, Taxi Kurir and Taxi Stockholm.

Cost: Don't pay more than EK 450-550
Location: Turn right as you leave the departures area and you’ll see the queue.

Getting around the airport

4 Terminals, 1 Central Building

There are four terminals, laid out like a horseshoe. Terminals 2 and 5 handle international flights, while Terminals 3 and 4 handle domestic flights. A central building called SkyCity connects Terminals 4 and 5. You can also use the Arlanda Express to travel for free between Terminals 2, 3 and 5 – the trip takes only one minute.

You'll find plenty of shopping and eating options. For the biggest choice, head to SkyCity.

Save time: To avoid the long queues at security control, try going upstairs – there are far more lanes, and it’s likely to be a faster experience.
