Getting around the airport

HOU

The William P. Hobby Airport is an international airport located 7 miles from downtown Houston. The airport consists of a Main Terminal and Central and International Concourses.

  • Level 1 is Arrivals with baggage claim and ground transportation. Level 2 is Ticketing, which leads to all gates and Red Parking Garage. After security, a long corridor leads to the Central Concourse.
  • A new International Concourse opened in October 2015 with five arrival/departure gates. Four are used for Southwest Airlines.

Bus

Houston Hobby is served by Houston METRO bus routes 50, 73, and 88. Buses run from 03:41 to midnight and one-way fares are USD 1.25. Check the website for specific schedules.

Taxi

All destinations within Houston’s city limits to/from Hobby Airport are charged according to the flat Zone Rate or meter rate, whichever is less. The downtown day rate to downtown Houston is USD 26.50 and USD 27.50 in the evenings. The journey takes 25-35 minutes.

1940 Air Terminal Museum

The 1940 Air Terminal Museum is on the site of the original art-deco Houston airport terminal. The museum is located on the west side of Hobby Airport and showcases the city’s rich civil aviation heritage. The museum is less than 10 minutes away by taxi. Admission is USD 5 for adults and USD 2 for children.

We recommend a minimum 4 hour layover for a visit to collect your bags, see the museum, and get back in time to go through security.
