Getting around the airport

HNL

Honolulu International Airport is located 10 miles from Waikiki and six miles from downtown Honolulu. The airport has three main terminal buildings: The Commuter Terminal (Gates 71-80), the Interisland Terminal (Gates 49-64), and the Main Overseas Terminal (Gates 6-34).

The Main Overseas Terminal:

  • The Main Overseas Terminal serves U.S. domestic and international destinations. No gates are assigned to a specific airline.
  • It is divided into three concourses: Diamond Head Concourse (East side; Gates 6-11), Central Concourse (Gates 14-23), and Ewa Concourse (West side; Gates 26-34). Gates 12-13 and 24-25 are part of the main building.
  • All gates in the Overseas Terminal are capable of handling international arrivals, but only Gates 24-34 are connected directly to the International Arrivals Building. Arrivals into other gates must board Wiki Wiki buses to customs and immigration after deplaning.
  • Departing passengers in the Overseas Terminal may take an airside bus on the third level of the terminal to their gate in the Ewa or Diamond Head Concourse.
  • Passengers arriving at Ewa or Diamond Head concourses can take a bus outside the gates back to the main terminal or the Interisland Terminal. You will be dropped off near escalators and elevators at Baggage claim. However, international arrivals need to go through passport check.

- All terminals are connected by a shuttle bus that operates daily from 06:00-22:00. Signs are posted at curbside on the ground level showing the bus stops. Walking to the Interisland Terminal takes 10-15 minutes while the Commuter Terminal takes another 5-10 minutes.

- Passengers at the Interisland Terminal who check in for a flight to the Mainland U.S. can take a bus on Level 3 to get to their gate.

- The airport has a typical floor layout: ground level serves arrivals, level 2 is departures check-in, level 3 has food court and airline lounges.

- Luggage carts are free in the Overseas Terminal, but have a fee in the Interisland Terminal.

- Wi-Fi is available at Honolulu Airport for a fee. Rates are USD 6.95 for two hours or USD 8.95 for 24 hours. It is only available airside.
