There's no rail link to the airport, but Bournemouth isn't far away, so it makes sense to hop on a bus.
The Bournemouth Airport shuttle bus (A1 line, run by Yellow Bus) takes you to the town centre in just 15 minutes. However, it only runs around once an hour, Mon-Sun 07:00-20:30.
Cost: GBP 4
Location: Bus stop outside the terminal
All taxis at the airport are run by Compass Cars (+44 (0) 1202 37 37 37). The journey takes around 15 minutes.
Cost: Around GBP 16
Head to Bournemouth train station if you're going elsewhere in the UK. The Yellow Bus, line A1, will take you there in 15 minutes, and from there you can get to Southampton in 35 minutes and London in 1 hour 40 minutes.
Note: Unusually, and to the anger of many, you now have to pay GBP 2.50 to pick up or drop off passengers at the airport.
Bournemouth Airport lies only 7km north of Bournemouth (and 160km south-west of London).
It's a small airport, mainly serving flights to the Mediterranean, located in the village of Hurn. It won Best Airport in the UK in the 2008 Daily Telegraph Awards, however in recent years there have been complaints about customer service and the GBP 2.50 pick-up and drop-off charge (introduced to pay for the new terminal in the wake of declining passenger numbers).
The airport has one, modern terminal building, built in 2010, and is mostly used by Ryanair, flybe and Thomson Airways. There are few facilities, with one snack bar landside, and a cafe and restaurant airside. There are only two shops: a WHSmith newsagent both landside and airside, and a duty-free shop airside.
There are neither airport nor public lounges in Bournemouth airport.
Joes Coffee House, located before security, is a wonderfully indulgent coffee shop, perfect to grab a tasty bite.
