Keflavik International Airport lies 3.1km west from Keflavik, Reykjanesbaer and 50km south-west from Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland. The airport has one single terminal, the Leifur Eiriksson Air Terminal, named after an Icelandic explorer who is said to be the first European to discover North America. Beside rare exceptions, the airport only handles international flights.
The terminal is a modern building, which got a latest expansion of seven gates in 2016. Yet, the Leifur Eiriksson Air Terminal is a small terminal making it easy for you to get an overview of the available dining and shopping options, which include a duty-free area.
The Flybus is located right outside the airport. The bus leaves every 35-40 minutes after arrival of each flight. Keep an eye on the creen in the terminal or ask at the arrival hall. The trip to Reykjavik takes around 45-50 minutes.
The Airport Express runs between Keflavik Airport and both Reykjavik and Akureyri. The bus leaves every 40 minutes after each scheduled arriving flight. You can buy tickets in the arrival hall or book online at www.airoportexpress.is
You will find taxis outside the terminal. It is the easiest and the most expensive way to get into the city.
