Ignore offers of rides from solicitors in the terminal – this is illegal and many solicitors are unlicensed. Head to the ground transportation information counters, located on the lower baggage claim level. Fares to Upper Manhattan range from USD 29-37, plus any tolls for peak time surcharges (USD 0.50-1).
The NYC Airporter is a shuttle bus that departs approximately every 30 minutes and stops at the Port Authority Bus Terminal, Grand Central Station, and Penn Station. The fare is USD 16 one-way and the bus stops right outside of the baggage pick-up area at each terminal. Travel times vary, but average journey time is 90 minutes to Manhattan.
The M60 bus travels from all LaGuardia terminals to Upper Manhattan via Astoria Blvd in Queens and West 106 Street and Broadway. The bus also connects to the N and Q subway trains, the 4, 5, and 6 trains, and the Metro-North Railroad. The fare is USD 2.75 (with MetroCard or exact change); single-ride tickets cost USD 3. Passengers using the MetroCard are allowed free transfers at buses and subways.
