Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport - SYD

Sydney, Australia (AU)

Getting around the airport

Three terminals

Sydney Airport (also known as Kingsford Smith Airport) lies 8km south of the city centre, beside Botany bay. It's the oldest commercial international airport in the world and is the primary hub for Qantas Airways.

It has three terminals. Terminal 1 is separate from Terminals 2 and 3, which are right beside each other.

  • Terminal 1: Handles international flights through two concourses: B and C. Split into three levels: Arrivals on the ground floor, Departures on the first floor, and airline offices on the second floor. There is an observation deck on the roof. There are many shopping and eating options here, and eight airline lounges.
  • Terminal 2: Handles domestic flights from a range of airlines. There are lounges from Virgin Australia and Regional Express Airlines.
  • Terminal 3: Handles domestic flights from Qantas flights only. You'll find a large Qantas lounge here.

Paid-for shuttles between terminals

You can walk easily between terminals 2 and 3, but to go to and from Terminal 1, you'll need to take a shuttle. Unusually, you'll have to pay for this service - unless you’re flying with Qantas or Virgin. You have two options:

  • Airport Link Train: The fastest way. The journey only takes two minutes and there are frequent services from Mon-Sun, 05:00-00:00. Cost: 5.80 AUD.
  • T-Bus: The journey by bus takes 10 minutes, and runs frequently until 06:00 and then every half-hour until 21:00. Cost: AUD 5.50.
