Düsseldorf International Airport - DUS

Düsseldorf, Germany (DE)

Getting around the airport

3 terminals and a SkyTrain

Düsseldorf Airport lies 7km north of Düsseldorf and 20km south-west of Essen. It has three terminals, connected in one long building:

  • Terminal A, containing Gates A01-A16
  • Terminal B, containing Gates B01-B11, an observation deck and lounges from Air France and British Airways
  • Terminal C, containing Gates C01-C08, serving non-Schengen flights

The SkyTrain shuttle

You can use the SkyTrain monorail to get from the main terminal to Düsseldorf Flughafen station (for regional and long-distance trains) and car park P4 (which also leads to P5). It operates daily from 03:45-00:45, leaving every 3-7 minutes and takes six minutes end-to-end.

Be aware: There is only one ticket machine in front of the monorail, so queues can be long.

Cost: EUR 2.30 (free if you have a VRR or VRS ticket, a DB special offer ticket (City plus, NRW, Schöne-Reise, Schöne-Fahrt or Schöner-Tag), a Flughafen Düsseldorf GmbH car park ticket or a ticket for the observation deck)

Shuttle bus

When the SkyTrain is not operating, you can take a shuttle bus. These leave every 20 minutes from 01:05-03:25. Journey time is eight minutes.

Location: Level 0, Arrivals level, opposite door E

Getting into town

Train, taxi or car sharing

Train

Düsseldorf Airport has two busy train stations, where you can take local S-Bahn trains to Düsseldorf, as well as regional RE trains and high-speed ICE trains to go across Germany and to neighbouring countries:

For local trains to Düsseldorf
Use the 'Düsseldorf Flughafen Terminal' station, marked with a green 'S'. From here you can take S-Bahn line S1 or the S11 to Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof in only 12 minutes.

Cost: EUR 2.80 one-way into Düsseldorf
Location: Terminal C, underground, take the moving walkway from Arrivals

For regional and long-distance trains

Use the Düsseldorf Airport train station. This train station receives long-distance trains ICE (Intercity-Express), regional express trains RE (Regional-Express) and regional trains RB (Regionalbahn)

Location: 2.5 km from the main terminal building. Take the SkyTrain monorail, journey time six minutes.

Taxi

You can also take an Airport Taxi from the ranks at Arrivals and Departures. These official taxis have to offer: payment by credit card and on account and well-maintained vehicles equipped with navigation system and a child's booster seat.

Cost: Around EUR 24 into Düsseldorf city centre

Car sharing

An increasingly popular and reasonably priced way of getting around, car sharing is a great option to get into Düsseldorf on your own steam. If you're a DriveNow or car2go customer, you can pick up a car in car park P7.

Luggage storage

In the car park

We love luggage storage facilities, but they're often hard to find. Düsseldorf Airport offers good luggage storage services and lockers. Cost: EUR 3.50/day for items up to 30kg, or EUR 6/day for items up to 60kg

Car park, ground floor
Hours: Mon-Sun 05:00-23:00

Comfortable resting areas

Get a few hours of rest

There is a comfortable relaxing area to get away from the huzzle and buzzle of the airport. It’s quieter up there than in the galleries and there’s nothing going on from 23:00-5:00.

After security, floor 3, near the observation desk

Showers

In one lounge only

The only shower option in Düsseldorf is the Lufthansa Senator Lounge on level 2, after security in Pier C. It is not open to the public.

Pick-up and drop-off

The best locations

If you‘re dropping someone off, go to short-stay car park P12, directly in front of Terminal C, Arrivals. For those accompanying someone to Departures and parking for just a few minutes, we recommend short-stay car park P11, right next to Terminal C Departures. They cost EUR 1.80 every 12 minutes (so make sure it is short).
