Bypass the lines

Curbside check-in

Drive your luggage right up the terminal door and have your bags taken care of and your boarding pass printed with curbside check-in. From there, you can park the car or return it to the hire agency and head straight for security. This is offered by selected airlines including American Airlines, Delta, JetBlue (USD 2/bag; paid by credit card), Virgin America, United, and US Airways. Curbside check-in times coincide with ticket counter opening times. Tips are appreciated by the Skycap porters.

Avoid Petrol Scams

Don’t fill up near the airport

Orlando is considered the ‘hire car capital of the world’, which means there are plenty of options for hiring a car to get around at the airport. There are many agencies located off-site which provide free airport transfers and may offer lower prices.

Beware that several gas stations near the airport charge high prices (USD 2-3 USD/gallon above local prices) to take advantage of visitors. Wait until you have made it into the downtown area before topping up the tank.

Airport Construction

Airport improvements ongoing until 2019

Work has started on the airside trams, which will replace the shuttle systems at Airsides 1 & 3. Airside 4 is adding new international gates and renovating the restrooms. By 2017, a new Maglev rail system should be completed, which will connect the airport with major sites in Orlando.

The airport is also working on building a new South Terminal, which will have 16 gates and an integrated rail system connecting Orlando airport with Miami. Expected completion is in 2019.
