Getting around the airport

Single terminal

Bari airport lies approx. 8 km north-west of the city center of Bari and some 11 km south-west from Palese. Its official name is Karol Wojtyla Airport, but it is also called Palese Airport. The airport has one main passenger building with two levels.

Level 0: arrivals hall with baggage claim, lost and found, exchange, car rental desks,
Level 1: check-in desks, security check-in, shops and restaurants, departure hall.

Getting into Bari

Train, bus and taxi options

Bari airport is well connected to downtown Bari as well as other cities by either train or different bus services. A big screen above the exit of the terminal in the arrivals hall offers up to date information on departure times and late arrivals.

Train
Direct service from the airport to Piazza Aldo Moro, near Bari's main station. The trip takes about 15 minutes. Tickets can be bought at a machine immediately outside the platform or on the way to the platform. The platform is a short walk away. Leave the terminal building, take the escalator down, walk the long tunnel. Immediately ahead of you is the platform for Bari.

Tempesta Shuttle Bus and PugliaAirBus

Speedy, 20-30 minute airport shuttle service from the airport to Piazza Aldo Moro/Bari Central railway station. You can pay directly at the driver. Exit the terminal building to the front to find both bus services.

Cost: about EUR 4.50


Taxis
Taxis take about 25 minutes to central Bari. Be sure that the meter is working or negotiate the price before boarding. Expect additional charges for late night trips, weekends or public holidays as well as luggage, airport fees or for more than four passengers.
