Bergamo's Orio al Serio Airport lies a distance of almost 50km from Milan (and 8km from Bergamo). Despite its increasing workload, the airport is quite small, with only one passenger terminal on two floors. However, there are enough cafés and shops to keep you busy while you wait for your flight. Check-in desks and the security check are on the ground floor. After security, there are 23 gates. Gates 1-11 are on the ground floor, and Gates 12-23 are on the first floor.
Tip: As the airport can get overcrowded at peak times, we recommend booking into the VIP Lounges and using the Fast Track service.
If you want to relax in between flights or before boarding, we highly recommend spending your money on one of the two VIP Lounges.
Considering the lack of electrical outlets, Wi-Fi, seating, and food options throughout the airport, your money will be well spent. You will also be entitled to Fast Track service through the security controls. The price includes admission to lounges before and after security.
Cost: EUR 20 online (EUR 22 at airport ticket office counters), EUR 84 for five admissions online
Location: Landside: Departures, beside security checks. Airside: in the shopping area of the boarding gates.
Opening hours: Landside: Mon-Sun 05:00-20:00. Airside: Mon-Sun 06:00-22:00.
Milan is over 50 kilometers away from Bergamo airport and taxis can be expensive. The cheapest and most convenient way to get into the city is the Terravision shuttle bus. Trains run from Bergamo rail station, but you will have to get a bus there first.
Terravision buses run from the airport to Milan city every 20-30 minutes, from 04:05 to 01:00. Journey time is around 60 minutes. (You can also take the Orioshuttle bus, which can be handy if there's a queue for Terravision.)
Cost: EUR 5 one way, EUR 9 return
Location: Arrivals area, bus parking, bus stop no. 1
Buying tickets: On the bus or online before you travel
However, if you'd rather take a taxi, make sure you take a licensed taxi with a sticker saying 'Taxi autorizzato per il servizio aeropuertale lombardo'. This guarantees that the taxi driver will charge you the standard airport fare. Taxis without this license may charge double. You can also pre-book a taxi here (cost around EUR 100).
Cost: Around EUR 80
