Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport - BUD

Budapest, Hungary (HU)

Getting around the airport

Two terminals

Budapest Ferenc Liszt Airport (commonly known as Ferihegy) lies 16km south-east of Hungary's capital. It serves mainly European flights, principally by Ryanair and Wizz Air.

The airport has two terminals, 2A and 2B with a Sky Court between them:

  • Terminal 2A: Serves flights within the Schengen area, with gates A1-19. After security check, you'll go through to the Sky Court, with no further security checks before going to your gate. There's an open-air viewing platform on the third floor.
  • Terminal 2B: Serves non-Schengen flights, with gates B1-19. After security check, you'll go through to the Sky Court, and then to get to the boarding gates, will go through passport control.
  • SkyCourt: Modern shopping area on five levels. You'll find a large selection of shopping and eating options here, as well as several lounges.

Getting into Budapest

Bus and metro

Since the closure of Terminal 1, there's, unfortunately, no direct rail link to the airport, making the bus and metro your best option.

Bus and Metro (two buses at night)

  • Daytime (from 04:00-23:00): Take the 200E bus, running every ten minutes, to the city's Metro system, Line 3, at Köbánya-Kispest. From there, take the M3 metro north towards Újpest Központ to the city centre (Deák Ferenc tér). From here, you can change to metro lines M1 and M2.
  • Nighttime (from 23:00-04:00): Take the 900-night bus running every 30-60 minutes.

Journey time by bus and metro is around 50 minutes. From the Kőbánya-Kispest metro terminal, passengers can take the M3 metro towards Újpest Központ to reach the city centre.

Minibus

For reliable and comfortable door-to-door transfer, book at minibus 24 hours a day. Transfer fees range from HUF 1,900-6,900 per person depending on the distance from the airport. The journey time varies depending on the number of people on the minibus. Booths:

Terminal 2A, airside, arrivals level, in front of baggage carousels
Terminal 2B, airside, arrivals level, in front of baggage carousels 3 and 4
Operating hours: 24h daily

Train

If you want to take the train into Budapest, you'll need to take the 200E bus to Ferihegy vasútállomás (Ferihegy railway station). From there, take the Hungarian State Railway train to Nyugati Station in Budapest centre in 25 minutes

Taxi

Taxis from the airport are operated by a company called Főtaxi. You can book a car at a booth near the exits of both Terminals 2A and 2B. Many drivers speak English.

Cost: Around HUF 6,500
