Delays and service disruptions

There are renovation works ongoing throughout the airport. An airside connector bridge between Terminals 3 and 4 is expected to open in 2016. Renovation of Terminals 1, 2, and 3 are scheduled for completion by early 2017. Terminal 4 is also being expanded, with Concourse H to be demolished in 2016/2017.

Getting around the airport

Four terminals with a free shuttle bus

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is three miles southwest of downtown Fort Lauderdale and 21 miles north of Miami. The airport has four terminals:

Terminal 1: New Terminal - Yellow

  • Terminal 1 has Concourses A, B & C and 24 gates.
  • Used only by Southwest, Alaska, Allegiant, Silver, United, Bahamasair and WestJet. 

Terminal 2: Delta Terminal - Red

  • Terminal 2 has Concourse D and nine gates. 
  • Used only by Delta and Air Canada.

Terminal 3: Main Terminal - Purple

  • Terminal 3 has Concourses E & F and 20 gates. 
  • Used only by JetBlue, Azul, Emirates, American and Norweigan.

Terminal 4: International Terminal - Green

  • Terminal 4 has Concourse G and 11 gates.
  • Used only by Spirit, Air Transat, Avianca, British Airways, Caribbean, Copa, Sunwing, TAME, IBC, and SkyBahamas.  

If you are changing terminals or arriving on an international flight, you will have to go through security again. At this time, only Concourses E and F in Terminal 3 are connected after security. Concourses B and C in Terminal 1 are not connected. The airport offers free baggage storage as well as free Wi-Fi, 40 pieces of art, and a Business Service Center. 

Travelling between Terminals

A free shuttle bus operates between terminals on the lower level of each terminal from 06:00-21:00 daily.

Getting into Fort Lauderdale

Bus, commuter train and taxi

Bus

The Broward County Transit operates daily bus service to and from the airport with Route 1. Buses run every 10-15 but schedules vary so be sure to check in advance. The journey to Aventura Mall takes approximately 45 minutes.

Cost: USD 2 one-way
Operating hours: 05:29-23:36 daily

Commuter Train

Tri-Rail provides service between FLL Airport Station in Dania Beach and Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. Free shuttle buses travel between the airport and the Tri-Rail service at Airport Station.

Location: West end of Terminal 1, in between Terminals 2 and 3, and between Terminals 3 and 4
Cost: USD 3.75 one-way to Fort Lauderdale on Mon-Fri, USD 5 one-way to Fort Lauderdale on Sat-Sun,
Operating hours: 04:51-22:18 Mon-Fri, 05:57-22:22 Sat and Sun

Taxi

Several companies provide taxi service to and from the airport. The journey to Fort Lauderdale hotels is about USD 30.

Passengers can rent cars on-site at the airport’s Rental Car Center, a building located adjacent to Terminal 1. There are 12 companies available to hire cars from. Shuttle buses will take you from the RCC to Terminals 2, 3, and 4.
