Getting around the airport

Seven terminals

Philadelphia International Airport has seven terminal buildings, with a total of 124 gates.

  • Terminals A East, A West, B, C, D, and E are connected airside by moving walkways. Terminal F is separate but can be reached by an airside shuttle bus from Terminal C (at Gate C16).
  • Terminal F has a retail and dining space called the Hub where the terminal’s three concourses intersect. It has upscale dining, retail, and an XpresSpa.
  • There is a shopping and dining area between Concourses B and C.
  • Terminal A West is the only terminal with US Immigration & Customs; allow 35-45 minutes extra for transfers to regional flights due to distances between terminals
  • Wireless internet at the airport is free and unlimited.
  • Luggage carts are available for USD 4

Getting into Philadelphia

Good public transport options

Train

The area’s transport authority operates rail service between the airport and Center City Philadelphia via the Airport Line. It stops at University City, Amtrak’s 30th Street, Suburban, and Jefferson stations. The fare is USD 8 if purchased on board or USD 6.50 if purchased at a station in Center City. Total travel time to the end of the line is 25 minutes.

Bus

There are various airport bus routes, include Route 37, Route 108, and Route 115. Shuttle buses to the local colleges operate during heavy travel periods. Bus fare is USD 2.25.

Taxi

Taxis stop at all baggage claim areas, except at Terminal F where passengers can access ground transportation outside Terminal E. The flat rate between the airport and downtown Philadelphia is USD 28.25. Uber is also available at this airport.

Minute Suites

Get work done or take a nap

Minute suites offers private suites for an hourly fee. The rooms have high-definition TV, internet, and flight tracking. Thirteen private suites are equipped with a daybed for two; two suites have workstation cubicles. Rates are USD 38 for the first hour and USD 9.50 for every 15 minutes (first two hours), then USD 7 for every 15 minutes thereafter. Overnight rate is USD 130.

Nursing rooms are also available for nursing mothers at the Minute Suites. The first 30 minutes are free. Contact them at 215-937-1076.

Car rental

Lowest Price Guaranteed

Passengers with rental car reservations must take the company’s shuttle to the car hire area. If you do not have a reservation, there are courtesy phones for each company available in each of the baggage claim areas.

  • Terminal B/C, landside, baggage claim exit near carousel E

PHL has educational play areas designed with the needs to young travellers (under 10). Ready for takeoff in Terminal A East has a jumbo jet with control tower where kids can pretend to be pilots, passengers, drivers or air traffic controller.
